Opal Meaning and Healing Properties

What are the special properties of opal? Is opal a New Age gemstone? Does opal have metaphysical healing properties? Do the opal colours correspond with the chakra system? Where can I learn more about opal meaning and healing properties?

Some people say they feel certain energies coming from gemstones and crystals.

We know for a fact that there are people who are literally drawn to the opal rocks and can’t resist picking them up, touching them and wanting one.

We’ve seen this happen often when we sell in person.

These people declare they “feel” energy coming from the rock or gemstone but can’t explain the feeling.

Being invisible and instinctive we say the feeling relates to the metaphysical or New Age properties of the opal rock or gemstone.

New Age is really Old Age as the practice of using crystals for healing, energy rebalancing and spirituality goes back a long way.

The colour of the opal, the age of the rock and the physical content of the opal are all key factors in exploring the special properties of opal.

Opal is a member of the quartz family – SiO2nH2O – and has a high water content. This watery content and wide range of colours aligns it with emotions and emotional balance.

Dark colours work well on the lower chakras and the lighter colours work well on the higher chakras.

Chakras are energy wheels of ‘prana’ (internal energy) that the thinking person can work on by way of ‘clearing,’

Using opal in the context of colour symbolism and colour therapy is a way to promote spiritual healing.

Blue for example is a colour that aligns with the Throat Chakra. The throat chakra is all about expression and communication. Pundits would say to put blue in your life if you need to communicate clearly.

Green aligns with the Heart Chakra. The heart chakra is associated with love, emotion and healing. Pundits would say to put green in your life when you might be having issues with the emotional heart or feel restricted and confined.

Purple aligns with the Crown Chakra. The crown chakra is associated with opening the mind in order to practice introspection and attain wisdom through spirituality. Pundits would say to put purple in your life when there is a need to calm the mind and energize the spirit.

Red aligns with the base or Root Chakra. It is connected with our ability to survive, adapt and trust. Pundits would say to put red in your life when there is a need to revitalize the spirit.

Orange aligns with the Sexual Chakra and is concerned with our passion, sexuality and creativity. Pundits would say to put orange in your life when there are feelings of desire for something more in life.

Yellow aligns with the Solar Plexus chakra and is concerned with how we create balance through wisdom and moderation within ourselves. As the solar plexus chakra is located around the digestive system it is a key place of storage for prana energy.

Indigo aligns with the Third Eye Chakra, the point where conscious and unconscious knowledge meet. Opening the third eye chakra and allowing universal energy to flow freely through it will put you in touch with your innate intuitive and psychic powers. Pundits would say to put indigo in your life when there is a need to relieve physical, mental and emotional pain.
