I love opal because…it’s a natural gemstone
Environmentalist, activist and opal lover.
My interest in nature began with rocks.
Our family just loved going bush on the weekend fossicking for precious gemstones, minerals, gold and sometimes even old bottles.
We would camp, fossick all day, stargaze at night, and talk about the natural world.
My father was a naturalist and would put his ideas out into the star sprinkled sky, mother would add hers, followed by the children.
In this way I became aware of the big picture that man was just a fraction of the whole. That nature was our garden providing everything we need if we care for it and give it the respect it deserves and that these things were worth fighting for.
Activism is more than marching in the streets and getting locked up, there is always work being done behind the scenes; work with the pen as proven in a recent case I was involved in.
Being an environmental activist makes me a Greenie I suppose, I’m proud of that 😊.
I love being in nature and I love natural things.
Opal has always fascinated me.
Such a unique gemstone, so rare in relative terms, so different to anything else.
It really is original, artistic, and pretty cool.
That is how I feel when I am wearing my opal anyway; cool, calm, and connected!
