Rough Boulder Opal Mineral Specimen

Origin: Quilpie, SW Queensland, Australia.

Weight: 886 grams/31.25ounces (1.95 lb)

Height (top to bottom) – 8 cm or 3.15 inches
Width (left to right) – 9 cm or 3.54 inches
Depth (front to back) –  6 cm or 2.36 inches

The rough boulder opal mineral specimen featured in the gallery above stands on a natural base and has opal on both sides.

The specimen also has two distinctive opal bearing veins running between the two (front and back) faces (as per pics).

Rare, precious, rough boulder opal is only found in an isolated part of Australia where it is mined on a small scale.

We travel out to the opal fields to collect the raw material from the mines to either process (cut) or offer as natural specimens like this one.
